Resource Groups

During their three-year term (2004- 2007) the four resource groups will contribute to the Trust’s work in the following areas:

  • The production and dissemination of health education materials
  • Capacity building for planning, implementing and evaluation of education, health and community development programmes incorporating Child-to-Child activities
  • Facilitating international short courses and training on a needs basis
  • Sharing and promoting experience based learning and Action Research
  • Policy development and advocacy on children’s participation

The four resource groups serving on the Executive Committee include the following:

Arab Resource Collective (ARC)

ARC has been chosen as a resource group because of its thematic expertise in children’s rights, early childhood care and development and children affected by conflict. ARC has had vast experience in building capacity of partner organisations in the Arab World working on Child-to-Child and thus can contribute its strengths in the area of networking and collaboration to the new international network.

Centre for Health Education & Nutrition Awareness (CHETNA)
CHETNA has had experience in capacity building, training, advocacy, materials development, and networking in projects all over India. In October 2004, CHETNA hosted the CtC international short course in Ahmedabad, India.

Health Action Schools (HAS)

In Pakistan, HAS is one of the pioneers in using the Child-to-Child approach to promote health education in schools and has had experience in materials development, teacher development and Action Research which it can contribute to the international network.

Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium (KANCO)

Although there are many projects using the Child-to-Child approach in Kenya, KANCO has been chosen as a resource group due to its strong thematic expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS. KANCO will also contribute to the international network in materials development, networking and capacity development, specifically in developing the website and producing the CtC newsletter.
