HIV/AIDS remains the greatest challenge to humanity despite the efforts made by scientist, researchers as well as humanitarian workers to reduce the rates of infection and suffering caused by the epidemic.
According to Peter Piot - the UNAIDS Executive Director, "HIV/AIDS has adverse effects on all sectors of society. It is in fact the breadth and scope of these effects that make AIDS a threat to human security and a potential destabilising force worldwide.”
